Professional’s Choice held a special luncheon to ring in the new year and recognize four employees for 20 years of exceptional service to the company and the equine sports medicine industry.

Twenty-year Service Awards were presented to Julieta Zamudio (Production Specialist), Veronica Catalan (Senior Saddle Pad Production Specialist), Cynthia Jacobo (Production Manager), and Oscar Velazquez (Shipping Specialist).

Professional’s Choice congratulates Denise Cole and her current mount Donnerprince on their recent win of the 2008 Dover National Merit Award. Denise also took home the USDF 3rd Level Adult Amateur Horse of the Year award.

The Dover National Merit Award is presented to riders that win three Dover medals within the same competition year. In addition to winning this award, Cole has also received her USDF Bronze, Silver, and Gold Medals. Her current mount Donnerprince is a five year old Hanoverian Gelding pasture horse that lives on Cole’s 17 acres. Cole credits her riding knowledge to many longtime friends and associates including Professionals Choices’ Kelly McGinnis.

As an adult amateur, Cole is an inspiration to any up and coming amateur rider. “I think it’s very important to remember that for us, this is a hobby. We put the most amount of time we can into it, without sacrificing other areas in our lives,” says Cole. This seems to ring true as Cole is a busy mother, wife, and caretaker of her farm. Jenson has extensive experience with horses, having been involved in the rodeo and calf roping industry since he was a child. Jenson has over ten years of experience in the equestrian industry. He started his career at Oxbow Tack Supply in 1997. While there, he learned all aspects of the tack business. His knowledge and experience grew, as did his responsibility within the company.

Jenson was later promoted to sales manager, where he skillfully helped grow the company and service 158 retail locations. As a result of his hard work and dedication, Jensen was offered the prestigious opportunity to buy controlling interest in the business from its owner.

Years after its inception, the Professional’s Choice Ice Boot remains on top and practical for cold therapy (cyrotherapy) says leading veterinarian publication, DVM Magazine.

In a recent study conducted by DVM Magazine’s contributing veterinarian, Kenneth Marcella, various methods of cold therapy were evaluated for effectiveness, from high-tech units costing up to $5000 to simple buckets of cold water. Of all the methods, it was concluded that old fashioned ice was the most effective for cooling horses’ legs as it sufficiently reduced temperature while others did not. The Professional’s Choice Ice Boot was found to be the most efficient way to administer ice to a horse’s legs.
